The Battle of Skull River was fought between the Chaos Dwarfs and the Wood Elves. [1a]

History

After a Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer Lord was assassinated by a Wood Elf in the Temple of Hashut itself, the Chaos Dwarfs declared that they would never forgive or forget the insult. Discovering that his home was the forests near the headwaters of the Skull River every hundred years on the anniversary of the murder, they dispatch an army to burn the forests and kill any elves that challenge them. [1b]

In 2497 IC, General Vraznak led an unusually large force to enact vengeance, [1b] marching across the Blasted Wastes and enlisting Hobgoblin scouts as they passed Mount Gunbad. The army avoided Dawi patrols from Karaz-a-Karak and reached the source of the river without incident. [1a]

The Chaos Dwarfs began to burn the trees with the cargo of oil and tar they had brought and waited for the Elves to face them. Initially the few Elf scouts only managed to pick off a few Hibgoblins but eventually a substantial army marched to facce them. It had taken days for the Wood Elves to assemble their forces as the forest was burned and even a pair of Treemen joined the host. [1a]

The Chaos Dwarfs crushed the Wood Elves and as the remnants of their forces slipped away into the remaining forest the Chaos Dwarfs collected their trophies and headed home. [1d]
