Lord Mortkin the Black-Iron Reaver was a Norscan Chaos Lord and leader of the Fell Legion. [1a]

History

Many legends surround Lord Mortkin and his origins. It has been said that he is a half-Daemon or that he was one of the Sea-Kings of Norsca. His original home was a Norscan coastal town of Ulfennic[2a]

Whatever his past was, he ventured north into the Chaos Wastes. Here he won much glory. In the timeless lands he continued to challenge himself: He cast down the league of Pox Sorcerers of Leprous Council, binded the Fire Dragon Skulex the Great, bested a two-headed Giant in a contest of strength and fought Valkia the Bloody to a draw. He was much favoured by the Gods of Chaos and gathered a large following, but deep inside he he remained conflicted for he wanted to renounce Chaos and instead die as a mortal man like he had been long ago.[2c][2f]

In 2513 IC Ulfennic, the town that Lord Mortkin had once called home, was burned down by reprisal attacks of Oleg von Raukov of Ostland. Upon hearing this, Lord Mortkin locked himself away. When the Chaos Lord emerged, he returned with single-minded rage. He united many warriors and led them southwards to destroy the weakling human nations.[2b][2c]

In 2515 IC he invaded Ostland through Kislev at the head of an immense horde. In Battle on the Banks of the Lysk he massacred Kislev-Ostlander alliance led by Grand Marshal Oleg von Raukov and forced Imperial forces to fall back into walled city of Volganof.[1a][2a][2b][2c][2d]

In following Slaughter at Volganof Lord Mortkin breached the walls and slew Grand Marshal Oleg, but then was satisfied. He chose to die as a man with a will of his own and go to the halls of his fathers instead being a slave to the Chaos Gods. He was quickly slain and his forces were defeated by combined Imperial reinforcements but the walled city burned down. [2e]
