Lambert de Lillaz
Sir Lambert de Lillaz is a Bretonnian Questing Knight who encountered the Blood Dragon Knight Caleb. [1]
History
In the Forest of Chalon, the people of a woodcutters' village begged him to save them from the Red Knight of Chalon and from their description he recognised his enemy as one of the cursed knights of the Grey Mountains. He followed a woodland path to a clearing where he confronted the Vampire but the undead knight declined to fight, saying he was sated and that Lambert had no hope of defeating him. [1]
Unperturbed, Lambert charged him, impaling the red knight with his lance with a mighty blow - but the vampire merely removed the broken lance and told him to leave as this was not a combat he could win. Drawing his sword, Lambert attacked again but he was unhorsed and flung against a tree in a moment. But rather than killing him, Caleb told him to return to the village and heal before continuing on his quest - once he had done so, Lambert would perhaps provide him with a more interesting opponent. In recognition of his bravery however, Caleb pledged not to feed on the villagers and leave the area. [1]
Lambert considered this a lesson from the Lady in learning the importance of humility. [1]
