Isabelle
Lady Isabelle was the lady of the Domain de Breaumarchals. [1a]
History
When her father went off to war against the Skaven [1b] with twenty retainers, she was left with her mother and brother, Agravain to rule the domain. [1a] Only three of her father's men returned with the news that he had fallen in battle and they had only managed to recover his shield. [1b]
Her mother died only a few days later and was buried in the grail chapel, beneath her her husband's shield. As the first frost came, Orcs began raiding Isabelle had to declare an errand of chivalry with the domain going to whoever proved worthy by completing it. [1b]
Isabelle had fallen in love with a local shepherd and when he killed a number of Orcs whilst defending his sheep, She and the other peasants persuaded him to take up the mantle of a knight as she had no wish to become a Grail Damsel, hoping rather for a handsome husband to continue the blood line with. [1b]
She declared to all that the quest she set the two knights was to bring her the head of the Dragon Drogo Le Mal, a scourge on the local domains. [1c]
However when the two returned with the head of the beast, both claimed that the other had struck the mortal blow and should recieve the reward! Agravain suggested that the Lady decide the victor by mortal combat, but Isabelle angrily stopped that and declared that she, as a Lady would decide. She declared them both worthy but that Jacques would recive both her hand in marriage and the domain. Agravain accepted her decision, following the code of chivalry and swore fealty to his new brother-in-law. [1d]
To everyone suprise< Jacques immediately released her brother from his obligations, suggesting that he ride to serve the king and hence obtain his own lands. Agravain however pledged himself to the Lady, becomming a Questing Knight. [1d]
The formal investiture of the two men as knights was followed by the wedding of Isabelle and Jacques. [1d] Isabelle created a surcoat for her brother which bore the emblem of a Questing Knight as well as the colours of Beaumarchais and he set out for the tourney at Quenelles. [1e]
