Dreadnought
Dreadnoughts are some of the greatest warships in the Dwarf Navy. [1]
Although somewhat resembling the much smaller Ironclads, Dreadnoughts are much more powerful with foot thick armour and a powerful engine that makes it fast for its size with a paddle wheel at the rear and one on each side. Dual boilers mean that the ship is extremely difficult to disable. [1]
Kings of Barak Varr often mark their reigns by commissioning a Dreadnought but due to their sheer cost and that few engineers can make one mean that they are rare constructions. [2]
Crew
A dreadnought is manned by around 120 Dawi. [3a]
History
The first Dreadnought is said to have been created by Hengist Cragbrow. [2]
It is said that entire Pirate Fleets have been destroyed by Dreadnoughts operating in the Black Gulf and off Sartosa.[1]
Weapons and Equipment
A Dreadnought has more guns than a squadron of Monitors which are mounted in steam powered turrets giving it the ability to bring guns to bear on all sides. [1] The main turrets of a Dreadnought usually mount Thunder Cannons whilst smaller turrets are equipped with Tempest Cannons and five Breaker Cannons mounted on each side give them a powerful broadside. Small firing ports enable the crew to fire anti-personnel weapons against enemy boarders. Admirals who command them and Engineers who craft them can and do use alternative weapon configurations. [3b]
