Crystals of Power
There are three other Crystals:
- The Crystal of Earth. [1a]
- The Crystal of Fire. [1a]
- The Crystal of Water. [1a]
History
It was created around -3500 IC during the golden age of the Dwarfs however their creation drew the attention of Tzeentch who intervened and imbued them with additional power but also a number of flaws. [1a] Their power and flaws combined meant that mortals were not strong enough to hold onto the crystals and they became scattered. [1a]
Around 2200 IC, the Bloodaxe Alliance mounted a attack on Athel Loren and as the hiding place of the Crystal of Air was in their path, a small party of Elves took it west. There they were however overwhelmed, first by Beastmen and then by human bandits whose leader kept it a curiosity. [1b]
He established a small domain in the Yetzin Valley and sold it to nearby Dwarf Engineers who built him a fortified tower. They in turn passed the crystal to the Loremaster Hadrin. [1b]
When the horde of the Bloodaxe Alliance arrived in the valley, Hadrin discovered that a Crystal could sense the approach of another, the Crystal of Fire and he attempted to prevent the Orc leader, Torgoch from gaining control over both. He gave it to Yazeran and ordered him to flee and find a good hiding place. [1b]
Powers
On its own it has a formidable array of powers that can be used including making the wielder immune to Air based attacks of any kind - such as spells like Wind Blast. It also stops any Earth Elemental from coming within 20 yards. The crystal can be used to cast flame related spells and summon (but not command or banish) Air Elementals. Finally due to the intervention of Tzeentch in its creation it sometimes manifest powers in a way not quite intended by the wielder. [2a]
