Finkel is a Skaven Grey Seer who invaded Albion.[1b]

Appearance

He has lines of rotten yellow teeth. [1c]

History

Assisted by a Dark Emissary, he had noted that much of Albion was a turgid swamp which stank of both decay and magical energy - much like Skavenblight and so had managed to stow his army aboard a fleet of Empire ships headed for the island. [1b] His initial landing party had managed to overwhelm a Dwarf beach head although at the cost of the entire force! [1a]

Advancing deeper inland he was confronted by a large Empire army under the Elector Count Leopold von Stroheim and not wishing to fight them he ordered his army to break through, sacrificing units when needed to delay the man-things. [1b] reaching one of the great Ogham Stone Circles, he found a force of Dark Elves seeking to claim the same magical site under the Sorceress Loquille. Luckily the weather was in his favour with rain and hail lashing both sides, making missile fire almost useless. [1c]

His initial casting killed the Dark Pegasus the elf wizard was riding and the Dark Emissary conjured poisonous mist and a Fenbeast, causing havoc with the enemy. The sorceress was finally slain by Gutter Runners and her lover by the Fenbeast whilst the Dark Emissary and a Truthsayer fought a brutal duel that saw the destruction of the Emissary. However the wounded victor was forced to flee from a rampaging Chieftain leaving the Grey Seer in possession of the battlefield and the magical stones. It was time to feast! [1c]

Over the next few days, Finkel led his horde along the Ley Lines that connected the stone circles of the island, finding another Dark Emissary in one. However as the Skaven approached, they were attacked by a number of Giants including one two-headed one led by another Truthsayer. During the conflict, the Seer was sent flying into a standing stone, shattering his spine but he was conscious long enough to see the final giant and the Truthsayer slain by the Dark Emissary. [2a]

The skaven army were next confronted by a fortress manned by Dogs of War and the remnants of the Dwarf force that were seeking revenge for their lost kin slain at the beachhead assault. Although a few Skaven reached the ramparts, they were never enough to take the bastion. [2b]

Finkel used his supply of warpstone-rich Skalm to fuse his spine but his weakness had caused unrest in his lieutenants - he had promised abundant power and treasure to them. Once more his horde marched across Albion, enduring the hail as they traversed sacred groves, swamps, marshes, mountains and even plains of hot lead and vitrified bone. Reaching the far north of the island they faced one last enemy - a host of Undead at the Pain of Battle. After defeating the dead, he and the Dark Emissary trudged up the mountain beyond, finding a cave mouth that glowed with amber-yellow light, within which the Emissary promised were potent magics. [3]

When the servant of the Dark Master turned his back on the Skaven however, Finkel caved in his skull with a jagged black rock and moved on to claim the precious heart of Albion. [3]
