History
In the year 2491 IC, The High Priest Bagrian inflitrated Skavenblight and stole the Black Arc, using his magic to escape unseen. However, only days later the Skaven located him at La Masiontaal and attacked, aided at first by the undead of the Lichemaster Heinrich Kemmler. The inevitable treachery by the Skaven led to the two armies fighting and being less able to resist the arrival of Duc Tancred and his knights. The Battle of La Maisontaal ended with the Bretonnians victorious but Bagrian dying. [3]
Duke Tancred I financed the building of an ambitious series of fortifications around the abbey but after his death at the Battle of Montfort Bridge apathy and corruption lead to the project being mostly abandoned and much of the the stone wall being salvaged by nearby peasants, but a garrison quarter was completed. End Times
Duke Theodoric of Brionne travels to the abbey in penance for a series of unchivalric deeds and ensures that the garrison are active in patrolling the local contryside. He remains as its guardian even as the Bretonnian provinces burn - even his own ancestral lands. As the undead approached he saw this as an opportunity to prove Bretonnia was not forsaken and mustered the garrison in the meadows south of the abbey, leading to the Twelfth Battle of La Maisontaal.
