Strigany
The Strigany are the descendants of those who survived the sack of the city-state of Mourkain, now a wandering, often persecuted people. [1a]
Once they dwelt in a powerful city, ruled and protected by vampires from the Orcs, Beastmen and other dangers of what is now the Badlands. But finally the city could not stand against a great orc Waaaagh and fell after a huge battle. Few of the humans survived, fleeing the devastation and they are still a nomadic people, wandering across the Empire and other lands, surviving as best they can, telling stories of how their ancient undying King will return and with him a new golden age. [1a]
There are dark tales that the Strigany kidnap children to give them to the Ghouls or that they transport vampires - whilst this is usually untrue, they suffer persecution and worse nevertheless. [1a]
On occasion Strigany form warbands and join with a Strigoi Ghoul King, fighting alongside the vast hunting packs of Ghouls and avenging themselves on those who have persecuted them in the past. [1b]
Weapons and Equipment
Led by a Domnu, members of these these warbands are usually armed with a pair of Hand Weapons and may wear Light Armour. [1b]
Quotes
I've heard Vampires travel around so easily because those filthy gypsies, the Strigany, shelter them in their caravans. I wouldn't put it past 'em. They're horse thieves and adulterers, and they all reek of cabbage. Its a short walk from there to harbouring the Undead if you ask me.
~ Azmus Pacher, horse trader. [1a] |
