Basilisks are eight-legged reptiles. [1]
It is said that they are the oldest creatures of Chaos and so filled with venom and spite that they poison the ground they walk on. [1]
Contents
Appearance
Basilisks are large reptiles with eight legs and brightly colored scales. They have frilled heads and long tails. [2b] They are sometimes mistaken for miniature dragons.[3]
Ecology and Distribution
Basilisks originated in the Chaos Wastes, but over time drifted south into the Empire, the Dark Lands, and beyond. [2b] In the present day, Basilisks can be found from the Grey Mountains to the Bloodspine Mountains in the Southlands. [3] Basilisks prefer to live in forests and hilly terrain, and use their poisonous aura to clear vegetation around themselves when moving through dense cover. [2a]
Bones and Organs
Alchemists and wizards prize their glands and organs and often send hunters to hunt them, although they are very rare. [1] Their bones continue to poison the world around them, corroding metal and putrefy flesh but can also be made into deadly weapons to both their wielder and their enemy. [2a]
Weapons and Equipment
The bite of a Basilisk is highly toxic, and its very gaze can petrify. [1]
