Dread Maws are huge serpents or worms with vast circular mouths filled with hooked, crescent-shaped, inward-curling teeth. [1]
Belegol Ironskin, a famed Slayer claims that the best way to kill a Maw is to let it swallow you, then cut your way out from the inside. [1]
Appearance
They have scaly grey and green bodies coated with a rank slime that not only aids in passing through the earth at great speed, as well as befouling the weapons of those seeking to end them. Creatures of Chaos, many bear open, suppurating wounds and strange mutations. Rarely they may grow to titanic size, becoming capable of swallowing whole armoured wagons in a single gulp! [1]
Even such mighty creatures as Dragons and Hydra can fall victim to them as they tear their way inside the body of their victim and devour them from within. [2]
Habitat
Although some legends claim that they were orginally found in the hinterlands of Khuresh, perhaps created by the fabled Blood Naga Queens, [1] they are one of the vilest creatures that dwell in the Chaos Wastes. [2]
Weapons and Equipment
Some spit the same foul and corrosive substance that coats their skin at enemies whilst others have acidic blood that can melt flesh. [1]
- 8th Edition: May have Clawed Mandibles, Hooked Spines, Poisonous Blood, Slime Spray. [2]
