Mourngul are terrifying half living creatures that are found in the wildernesses of the world.[1]
They haunt expanses of emptiness and are neither alive or dead, feared by all who encounter them, except Ogres who seem not to be preyed upon by them.[1]
Contents
Habitat
They are known to dwell on the highest peaks of the Black Mountains [1] as well as other bleak and empty locations of the Old World from the Grey Mountains to Norsca. [2]
Nature
Legends claim that they are the remnants of those who devoured their companions in order to survive [1] but whose corpse when they perish are twisted into inhuman monsters becoming neither Ghost or revenant that mocks life with its visage. Theey are condemened to a life of isolation and unending hunger, attacking all they find. [2]
They are sought out by heroes of the living and Chaos Champions seeking glory as well as Necromancers who wish to control them but few succeed and only when the Winds of Magic blow strongly can they be bound by powerful magic. [2]
They are surrounded by an aura of cold that slows and kills their enemies and even in broad daylight they seem to shift and shimmer as if they were a mirage. [2]
