Gnoldron

Gnoldron is a Dwarf Rune Hammer. ^[1]

Its name means Old Thunder and it was the favoured hammer of the Karak Vlag Runesmith craft guild - the Funimrik Clan. ^[1]

History

The Hammer was was created during War of Vengeance by the Runesmith Arnek Ragasson. ^[1]

It was used to smash not only the gates of Elf strongholds but also the heads of Greenskin war bosses. It was also used by the Runesmith Chrobak Ironarm to kill the Dragon Ioridrak after he had created other rune artifacts to specifically assist in slaying his quarry. ^[1]

The Runesmith Tudnak Haudssen was the last known Dawi to use the hammer and was said to be in possession of it when Karak Vlag fell. ^[1]

Around 2400 IC, a group of Kislevite trappers were attacked by Chaos Dwarfs - one of whom, the leader, used a ornate warhammer that threw lightning bolts. The Imperial explorer, Tomas Osterman mounted an expedition to confirm if it was indeed Gnoldron but he never returned. Notes on his investigation were left with the Temple of Verena in Middenheim. ^[1]

Powers

It emits a great crack of thunder when it hits a foe and can throw bolts of lightning at distant targets. The hammer is also said to provide protection from similar magic which is thought to be a lost Master Rune. ^[1]
