Aethis
Aethis the Poet was the eighth Phoenix King of the High Elves of Ulthuan.[1a]
He reigned from 498 to 1120 IC. [1a]
Aethis was a noted singer and poet. [1a]
History
Like his predecessor, Aethis was from Saphery but he inherited a nation at peace and his court was filled with artists, actors, writers, poets and sculptors. [1a]
A statue at the Griffon Gate is completed in 606 IC as a memorial to the elven dead and to stirke fear into enemies. [2a]
In 699 IC he dispatched Ambassadors to Cathay who brought back spices, jade and silk [2a] and he even politely sought the return of the Phoenix Crown from the Dwarfs but they refused. [1a]
During his reign, the cult of luxury was reborn and grew in strength leading the Swordmasters of Hoeth led by Celedrin to begin an investigation. [2a] This eventually revealed that the chancellor himself was a cultist but when he was uncovered, he stabbed Aethis in the heart with a poisoned dagger. [1a]
