Yeasir
Yeasir was a lieutenant of Prince Malekith during his long voyages. [1a]
Family
Yeasir was a son of Lanadriath and was married to Saphistia. They had a son Durinithill. [2c]
History
He accompanied the Prince on his push into the interior of Elthin Arvan - the Old World and where the Elves first encountered the Dwarfs.[1a] He considered them potential foes to be understood but that they could also provide the colonial armies with well made wargear. As Malekith, Alandrian and a small bodyguard went to meet the Dwarf King, Yeasir was dispatched back to let Phoenix King Bel Shanaar and Morathi know of the encounter with this new race. [1b]
After the death of High King Snorri Whitebeard, Malekith declared he would go to the north and may not return - although many sought to join him Malekith restricted them to unmarried veterans no less than three hundred years old. Yeasir was named commander of Nagarythe but accompanied his Prince whilst Alandrian became prince and ruler of Athel Toralien. [1c]
For fifteen years he was Malekith as they fought across the Chaos Wastes until finally Yeasir what it was that his Prince sought and Malekith asked if they would dare to enter the Realm of Chaos itself. He answered that it was a foolish endeavor but he would follow if that was where his prince lead, yet he further warned it might just mean that they were simply lost and forgotten. The next day they discovered a strange ruined city and began to explore. [1d]
The found a strange chamber guarded by ranks of unmoving skeletons and with seven enthroned skeletal figures upon one sat a large horned metal crown which Malekith sought to take, despite Yaesor's warning that it was likely cursed. As he had suspected, once his prince took the crown, the skeletons attacked. [1e] However before he and his warriors could be overwhelmed, Malekith gained control over the Circlet of Iron and returned the skeletons to their slumber. [1f]
When Malekith returned to Ulthuan to deal with the Cults of Pleasure, Yaesir was second in command of the army he led into Nagarythe. [1g] Later at the First Siege of Anlec, he lead the massed ranks of Nagarythe Spearmen and Archers. [1h]
Twenty years later, he was dispatched to the land of Anar's in Nagarythe on the orders of Malekith, placing the Prince's of the House under arrest whilst he investigated allegations that they were part of the Cults of Pleasure. Yeasir was uncomfortable with the suggestion and duty, but carried out his orders, searching every inch of the manse but found nothing. [2a]
The Sundering Civil War
Following the death of Bel Shanaar, he was part of the large force that occupied the capital of Tiranoc but rather than capturing Princess Lirian and her child, he found Alith Anar in the palace and dispatched him to hide them in nearby caves with Yeasir's own wife and daughter (*). He told Alith he would delay pursuit so that they could all escape to seek sanctuary in Ellyrion returning to the great hall to tell Prince's Caenthras and Yrianath that Lirian had escaped but that he would seek them out. [2b]
A Raven Herald spotted him leaving the cave where they were hidden after he had visited his wife, son and his sister-in-law, Heileth. Returning to the palace he was confronted by the Chamberlain, Palthrain who had dispatched several hundred soldiers to capture the fugitives. Pausing only to kill Palthrain, he rode hard to try and reach his loved ones before the soldiers - he got their first and told them to flee whilst he held the warriors off. [2c]
He faced the oncoming regiments, sword in his right hand and spear in his left, bellowing a challenge before charging into their ranks, slaughtering a dozen as he leapt deep into their ranks. [2c]
Quotes
Know who you face, cowards! I am Yeasir, son of Lanadriath. I am commander of Nagarythe. I fought at Athel Toralien and the Battle of Silvermere. I marched with Prince Malekith into the north and faced the creatures and daemons of the dark gods. I was the first into Anlec when Morathi was overthrown. Ten times then thousand foes have felt my wrath! Come and taste the vengeance of my spear and the ire of my sword. Come to me, brave soldiers, and face a true warrior.
~ Yaesir.[2c] |
