Mentheus
Mentheus of Caledor was a High Elf general and Dragon Rider. [1a]
Family
He had a son, Altheus who was one of the candidates to succeed Morvael. [2a]
History
He was appointed general of the High Elf armies by the Phoenix King Morvael in 1133 IC and introduces mandatory military service for citizens, [1a] elves must spend part of the year in the military, providing their own wargear. [2a]
In 1146, he finally lifts the siege of the Griffon Gate which it had been enduring since he became general. [1a][2a] In this battle he was aided by the young Mage Caelith Fireheart who mounted on Rilgaur carried out a devestating charge, subsequnetly, Mentheus would name him as the first Dragon Mage in honour of his bravery. Whilst attacking the Dark Elves at Anlec, he is slain - his dragon Nightfang is enraged and routs the enemy. [1a][2a]
Weapons and Equipment
Mentheus used the magical Blade of Leaping Gold throughout his campaigns until his death. [4a]
Writing
Mentheus wrote a number of books on warfare and tactics, some of which are still kept at the Tower of Hoeth as the finest examples of their kind. [3a]
