White Lion
White Lions are powerfully built High Elf hunters who protect the lands of the Inner Sea and some of whom serve as bodyguards to the Phoenix King. [1b]
These hunters became known as "White Lions" for their fierceness and courage in battle, and for the pelts earned by slaying a great Chracian White Lion in single combat.[1a] Deeply attuned to the natural world, the Chracian hunters do not kill the white lions out of hand, and the greatest of their order have been known to raise a cub into a powerful War Lion trained to savage their foes on the field of battle. History
The Elves of Ulthuan's northern kingdoms are a hardy, self-sufficient folk; they live in the wilds of the northernmost coast of Ulthuan. The land of Chrace is a bulwark against invasion and hunters prowl the woodlands for Dark Elf raiding parties, spies and assassins. [1a]
It was one such hunting party that saved Caledor I from certain doom at the hand of an assassin's blade. While he was out hunting in the forests of Chrace, he received news that he was to become the new Phoenix King. As he made his way to the Shrine of Asuryan, a Dark Elf assassin leaped from the forest and attacked him. As they dueled, the woodsmen nearby came to his aid, cutting down the assassin with their axes. Caledor recognised their courage, and made them into the Phoenix King's personal retinue. [1a] [*]
During the history of the White Lions no noble or Prince entrusted to their care has ever been abandoned. [6a] Even the death of the Phoenix King Tethlis the Slayer was only after he had dismissed his guards. [6b]
Two hundred Characians including White Lions defended Cloud Pass from an army of 10,000 Dark Elves. [6b]
An entire company of White Lions is wiped out at the siege of Athel Corthain but their defence allowed Prince Allurion to escape. [6b]
Captain Korhil saved Prince Tyrion in the highlands of Chrace from Dark Elf Assassins and scouts. [6b] He also later saved Phoenix King Finubar the Seafarer from the Master Assassin Hargammon. [6b]
In 2502 IC during a sea battle against the Norse, White Lions stormed the Kingship of Erik Redaxe. [6b]
Notable
- Korhil is the current captain, bodyguard of Finubar the Seafarer.

Skills and Techniques
They are expert woodsmen, only matched by their Wood Elf kinfolk. [3a] White Lions are extermely skilled with their axes using a variety of techniques against their enemies. [6b]
- Lion Claw: A killing blow to the neck employed against large monsters. [6b]
- Lion Leaping: Using their agility and speed, the warrior catches his foe off balance by barging over them. [6b]
- Lion Rampant: The warrior uses the thick haft of their axe to blunt the force of the enemies onslaught. [6b]
Some of them ride Lion Chariots, pulled by the mighty White Lion beasts. [2b]
Weapons, Armour and Equipment
The White Lions use long-handled axes to protect the Phoenix King. The White Lions of Chrace have been offered replacement weaponry many times by the Phoenix Kings, but every time they have refused, because their axes are heirlooms that have been passed down through generations. [2a]
