Ithilmar
|
Ithilmar, Truesteel, or Sky Silver, is a metal favoured by the High Elves who are experts in creating both weapons and armour from it.[2][3][4]
It is a bright, reflective silver in colour, and is known for being just as strong as steel while also being a great deal lighter and more flexible.[1] Notably the metal does not tarnish and can only be forged using other ores found in the same region.[2]
Ithilmar is found in only one region of Ulthuan - Caledor on the black slopes of the Dragonspine Mountains.[2][4] It is not mined but chunks of ithilmar ore are retrieved after they are shaken loose by volcanic tremors. [4]

Weapons and Armour
Armour made from this metal is extremely light and often long coats of scale mail are made from it as well as corselets and high helms. Weapons retain their cutting edge but are also extremely light.[2]
Notes
The reference to the Dragonback Mountains in Warhammer Armies: High Elves (5th Edition) is likely a mistake on Games Workshop's part, as the mountains in Caledor are the Dragonspine Mountains, and which they are named later in the same subheading, while the actual Dragonback Mountains are half a world away in the Badlands. The High Elf Players Guide confirms it is the Dragon Spine mountains.
