Moonbow
The Moonbow is a famed magical bow carried by Alith Anar. [1a]
Apperance
It is crafted from a silvery metal with tips decorated each with a crescent moon, its string all but invisible, finer than a hair. The moonbow is almost weightless and Alith Anar found it perfectly balanced for his hand. [1a]
History
Before the Elves came to the world, the gods lived and loved with two of the greatest being Kurnous the Hunter and Lileath of the Moon. As he dwelt in the forests and she lived in the sky, they could never meet but the goddess asked the Smith god Vaul to craft her a gift to show her love that she felt the same way. However, Khaine learned of the gift and intercepted Vaul, demanding that he be given the bow into which Lileath had poured her love and soul. [1a]
He threatened to torture Vaul if he was not given the bow, but the smith gave it to the goddess Isha who proclaimed that none save Kurnous would ever find the bow and she cast it down from the heavens. Although he suffered at the hands of Khaine for some time, Vaul later told the hunter what had happened but he could not find it, despite Lileath staring down upon its hiding place from the sky. Eventually the Elves came to the land and the gods were banished to the heavens, ensuring that the lovers would remain apart and the children of Kurnous would howl their love for Lileath at each full moon. [1a]
During the Sundering, the pack of wolves that Alith Anar had joined told him of a Long-fang in lake before two-legs came. Long-fang old as forest which he hoped to find and use against the Druchii who had invaded Avelorn. He dived into the lake in which it lay and as he searched in the depths, was told the story of its creation and loss by a feminine voice. [1a]
After Alith was defeated at the counting house of Athel Yranuir[1b] it was put on display in Anlec with the Sunspear of Prince Eurithain of Cothique and the charred bark of a Treeman. Alith returned to Anlec in -2738 IC and stole it back leaving a message for Morathi. [1c]
