Dorien was a High Elven Dragon Prince of Caledor who fought in the Sundering.[1]

Family

He was the youngest of the three sons of Menieth, who was the son of Caledor Dragontamer. His older brothers were Caledrian, ruling price of Caledor, and Imrik who would become Phoenix King Caledor I.[1]

History

He traveled with his brother Imrik and cousin Thyrinor to Elthin Arvan to help protect and expand the colonies of Caledor in the new lands across the Great Ocean. After their victory at the Battle of the Laithenn River, they returned to their base at Tor Arlieth where Imrik received word that his brother wanted him to return home and attend the court of the Phoenix King to address the problem of the Cults of Pleasure - Dorien and Thyrinor returned home with him. [1a]

Sundering

During the brutal civil war fought against the Dark Elves in the early years of Caledor I's reign, Dorien served the king at times as a general and at times as governor of Caledor.Needs Citation

Dorien was part of the force that ended the First Siege of Lothern, smashing the besieging forces in a single afternoon whilst the rest of the army marched toward Ellyrion. After prisoners captured at the siege revealed that the armies of Nagarythe were also marching on Chrace and Ellyrion, Caledor I left Dorien in charge of the army whilst he dispatched some of the Dragons to Chrace and he flew to the Isle of the Flame for a new council of princes. [1c]

He received a message from the rulers of Ellyrion, Athielle and Finudel that the Druchii were threatening Eagle Pass and with Erethien, Findeir and Thyrinor on their Dragons, he led the army towards the pass. He would arrive in time to save Athielle from Kheranion on his dragon at the Battle of Nairain Ely although later in the battle he was struck by ricocheting bolt and would have lost his leg but for his enchanted armour. [1c]

In the aftermath in his camp there was much celebrating of the victory meeting Alith Anar but he was in a bad mood with a possibly broken leg. He later told Thyrinor that he did not trust the Naggarothi prince and would rather have his throat slit than fight alongside him. [1c]

He next led his army to Avelorn but relinquished his Dragon to enter the forest in favour of a horse, being met by the Maiden Guard and their captain Althinelle on the border with Ellyrion whilst Thyrinor took the Dragons north to hunt the Naggarothi in the mountains of Chrace. All of his command were told to only follow the trail that had been set for them, and all knew better than to stray in the forest. [1d]

The confines of the forest grated on the mountain loving Dorien but when he complained to Althinelle that his army was not suited to such close confines, she replied that Avelorn would prepare a suitable battlefield for him and his warriors. They were led to a vast sunlit glade which a battered army of several thousand Naggarothi were emerging into - The Caledorian army swiftly began to deploy resulting into the Battle of Avelorn's Glade. [1d]

Following the victory, Yvraine spoke to him through her captain, telling him that his brother should not delay too long before coming to Avelorn to ritually wed her. As the forest began to consume the Durchii dead, she further told him to take his dead and head to Cothique via Chrace to meet with the Phoenix King. [1e] At the subsequent council of Princes, Dorien suggested that they attack Anlec directly with all the dragons, but learned that Prince Aelvian and his dragon Kardraghnir had been killed in Chrace by massed bolt throwers.[1f]

In the Battle of Maledor in -2724 IC[2], after Caledor I was wounded by Witch King Malekith and his Black Dragon Sulekh, Dorien took command of the High Elven host and drove the Druchii from the field.[1]

Mount

He rode the red dragon Nemaerinir.[1b]

Weapons and Equipment

His armour had been enchanted by the priests of Vaul[3a] and he carried the magical sword Alantair. [1d]
