Outrider

Outriders

Outriders are members of the Imperial Engineers School of Altdorf who ride to war on horseback. ^[3a]

They act as a very specialized kind of cavalry of the Empire that are armed with repeater handguns with the role of Outrider units on the battlefield being to accompany the artillery and war machines of the College of Engineers and protect them from surprise attacks. ^[3a]

Outriders are veterans of the Pistolier cavalry, in battle either leading a unit of Pistoliers or forming their own Outrider units.^[4]

They often act as instructors for the younger Pistoliers. ^[2a][4]

Weapons and Equipment

Some retain the black and silver of the Pistolkorps but others wear the colours of their province. ^[2a]

• 3rd Edition: Barded Warhorse, Heavy Armour, each each are armed with either a Repeater Musket or a Repeater Pistol. Those with psitols have a Sword. ^[3a]
• 4th Edition: Barded Horse, Light Armour, each are armed with either a Repeater Handgun or a Repeater Pistol. ^[1a]
• W:TOW: Empire Warhorse, Hand Weapon, Heavy Armour, Repeater Handgun. May have Sharpshooter who may swap Repeater Handgun for Brace of Pistols, Grenade Launcher Blunderbuss or Repeater Pistol. May have Musician. ^[4]
