Mandred Skavenslayer
- This article is about the man. For the novel by William King, see Skavenslayer.
Mandred Skavenslayer von Zelt was the Elector Count of Middenheim, who led the forces of the Empire to victory against the Skaven and was later proclaimed Emperor. [1a][4]
History
As the Elector Count he provided for all the refugees he could, keeping the city free of the Black Plague and building up supplies. The skaven attacked in 1118 IC and Mandred was at the forefront of the defence, loosing an eye to a spear thrust during months of warfare. When the ratmen were forced to retreat, he was hailed as the Skaven Slayer. [3a]
Duchess Carin of Salzenmund sought help from Mandred and after an arduous march north, his army broke the Skaven at Dietershafen. On the rest of his campaign, Carin rode with Mandred and the later Ballad of Mandred and Carin suggested the two were lovers. [2a]
In 1121 IC he rode to the aid of the town of Ausreik in the Grey Mountains defeating Clan Rabidscar at the Battle of the Taurig. [3a]
He defeated the Skaven at the Battle of the Howling Hills in 1124 IC and later that year he was elected Emperor[1a]
Mandred would lead the Empire for another 28 years, rebuilding and reuniting the land and people before he was killed by a Skaven assassin in 1152.[1a]
