Athel Maraya
Athel Maraya was a High Elf trading city in what is now called Bretonnia [2a] in the Old World. [1]
A great trading port, it bought and sold goods from Cathay, Ulthuan, the Southlands and the Dwarfs of the World's Edge Mountains. [2]

History
Agents of Malekith attacked Dwarf travellers and merchants leading to the War of the Beard and Althel Maraya was itself attacked. [2]
Siege
In -1948 IC during the War of Vengeance, the city was besieged by a vast host from the Dwarf holds of Karak Azul, Karak Eight Peaks, Karak Kadrin, Karaz-a-Karak and Karak Varn. [1a] When Lord Kiarell, Warden of the City discovered a part of the main the Dwarf Throng was rapidly approaching, he ordered the trading ships in the harbour to evacuate the women and children. [2a] On their arrival, the Dwarfs offered the garrison free passage before the siege began but this was refused and so no further quarter was given. [1][3]
Morgrim Bargrum launched an attack with the vanguard of the great throng before his war engines were deployed but the defenders beat them back. For the next three days the city was bombarded until a great crack appeared at the eastern gatehouse and in desperation Lord Kiarell led an attack to try and destroy the war machines that were destroying his city. [2]
Meeting initial success, Kiarell wounded Snekki One-Thumb and then Olaf Greatnose, the engineer in charge of the siege engines but a counter attack led by Morgrim himself shattered the elves, Kiarell falling as he defended his badly wounded son. The few survivors retreated to the Anarian and watched from offshore as the city burnt. [2]
Bretonnia
Millennia later the city of Brionne would be built on the ruined foundations. [2]
Sea Elves from Cothique and Lothern reclaimed and settled in ruins of the settlement in sight of Brionne but they have proved to be prone to piracy, smuggling and other criminal enterprises. [4]
Spoils
The orchards were cut down and burned, the fields salted, the stones of the city taken to be made into gravel and statues smashed and the pieces used for the privy tanks of Breweries. The great gates keystone was taken to be made into a oathstone for the Dwarf King Grundin. Much gold and gems was found and taken back to the holds. [1]
