The Imperial Road Warden Service patrol the roads of the Empire
Under the terms of Emperor Wilhelm’s decree, all Road Wardens technically have jurisdiction over all Empire roads and highways, whether in their home province or not. [1a] In addition, Emperor Wilhelm’s sought to suppress the activities of local robber barons by making them responsible for maintaining and operating toll houses. [1b]

History
They were created in 2453 IC by Emperor Wilhelm the Wise who not only laid down standards for both equipment and training but also imposed oversight to stop the worst abuses of position. [1a]
Organisation
Road Warden units are raised and paid locally as they are members of the local State Armies. The majority of Road Wardens are are assigned to a specific stretch of highway, or patrol a region around their base of operations. [1a]
- Patrols: A typical Patrol consists of 4-6 Road Wardens, usually led by a Road Warden sergeant. [1a]
War
When the Empire goes to war, Road Wardens are often deployed as messengers, outriders and scouts although their sometimes-lax discipline can causes headaches for their commanders.[1c]
