Hjalmar
Hjalmar the Tyranical was an Elected Emperor of the Empire. [1]
He is the only Emperor to have come from Nordland. [1a]
History
After Count Adalbert Moltke was killed by a daemonic army of Khorne whilst trying broker an accord between the Ottilian and the Nuln emperor at Castle Salzenmund in 1375 IC, Duke Hjalmar of Hargen was the most successful of the claimants for control of the province. He used force where politics failed and by 1401 IC he had pulled together the province of Nordland and established a new seat of power at Dietershafen. In contrast he treated Salzenmund with contempt, turning the ruins into a prison camp for merchants, nobles and priests who displeased him. [1a]
He continued to rise in power and with a divided Electorial college and a deranged Grand Theogonist he was able to become Emperor for six brutal years, reigning from 1414-1420 IC. [1b] Hjalmar was killed by having a tent peg hammered through his eye whilst he was in bed and the assassin, a disgruntled infantry captain was carried through the streets of Altdorf by a grateful populace.
