Reik
The Reik river at around 750 miles is the longest river in the Old World and most important waterway of the Empire. [1][3a]
Overview
The Reik originates in the Black Mountains and widens as it flows northeast towards the sea. South of Nuln, the river is clear and fast flowing and is known as the Upper Reik. Nuln is the last place the river is bridged. [1][3b]
The Reik between Nuln and Altdorf grows to 200 yards wide. By the time it reaches Altdorf, what is located on a island in the river, the Reikis is swollen by a confluence of the River Talabec, itself heavy with black soil from the Middle Mountains. The current capital, is surrounded massive sluggish expanse studded with rocky islands, mud-flats and River Troll-infested marshes. [1][3a]
The Grootscher Marsh is a large and dangerous marsh on the border between Reikland and the Wasteland. It spreads on the both sides of the river. [4]
The Reik ends in Marienburg where it flows into the Sea of Claws. [3b][3c]
Trade and Traffic
The stretch of river that flows between Nuln and Marienburg carries more shipping than most of the other rivers in the Empire combined. The river makes province of Reikland the most prosperous province of the Empire.[1][3a]
It is a patrolled by Reik River Wardens and Pirates. [1][3a]
