Rivers of The Empire
From Warhammer - The Old World - Lexicanum
(Redirected from Upper Reik)

A map of the the Reik river system. Arguably the most important river system of the Old World.[4]
The Empire is dominated by grim and dangerous forests. Fortunately it is blessed by several powerful, large and important rivers which have significant political, economic, military and cultural importance. [1][2a]
Travel by a boat or barge is usually faster and safer than along the primitive roads of the Empire.[2a]
Most important rivers of The Empire
- Reik:
Starting at Nuln, the mighty Reik is the most important river of The Empire. Connected with several important rivers, it flows northwards through Altdorf towards Marienburg and then into the Sea of Claws. The province of Reikland is named after this river. [1][2a][4]- Bögen:
In Reikland it is a placid foggy river that has been claimed to be "commercially blessed" by the Bögenauer. It flows from the Grey Mountains through Bögenhafen and Weissbruck into Reik near Carroburg between Altdorf and Marienburg.[3][4] - Teufel:
in Reikland flows from the Grey Mountains through Ubersreik, Auerswald, and Grünburg into Reik at Castle Reikguard between Altdorf and Nuln. [3][4] - Upper Reik:
The Upper Reik begins in the Black Mountains near the Black Fire Pass and it flows into the north-east. Merges with the Aver at Nuln, forming the powerful river Reik. [1][4]- River Sol: The river cold Sol begins in The Vaults. On its way northwards the Sol passes near Pfeildorf, where it joins the Upper Reik. [1][4] In former times the river was the border between Wissenland and the lost province of Solland, which was named after the river. Needs Citation

It has a sinister reputation due containing the lands of Sylvania and ruins of Mordheim.[1][2a][4] - River Talabec: Beginning at Ostermark Marches, the Talabec flows eastwards. This river is held sacred to Taal and the province of Talabecland is named after this river. It flows into the Reik at Altdorf. After river Urskoy the river is too wide to cross but Talabheim is a major ferry point. [1][2a][4]
- Lower Talabec:
Also beginning in the World Edge Mountains, the Lower Talabec forms a part of the Kislev - Empire border. On its way northwards it meets the Upper Talabec at Ostermark Marches creating the Talabec.[1][2a] - Upper Talabec:
