History
The wizard was born in Middenland.[1a]
End Times
He became Supreme Patriarch of the Colleges of Magic.[1a]
In 2224 IC, as plague ravaged the Empire he dreamed of Taal being covered from head to foot with black grave-moss even as throttlevines attempted to choke him - even Shallya unable to help.[2a]
Martak set out to find the Emperor who had been wounded and lost after his recent defeat and finally located him suffering in the hermits cave. He also had another dream where Taal told him he could be saved by the true sons of Sigmar but also that those who would fight for Altdorf would die in agony. Together with Deathclaw, they set out for the capital.[2b]
In 2525 IC, he fought alongside Karl Franz at the Fall of Altdorf aided by the twin-headed elder Griffon Twinshriek.[2c] During the battle for the Imperial Palace, he was nearly killed by the Harbinger but fleeing to Imperial Menagerie, all the Beastmen were immolated by the Imperial Dragon.[2d]
By 2527 IC was defending Altdorf from a vast Skaven horde who were besieging the city. With the arrival of a raged army led by Valten, he and the Emperor saw an opportunity to break out of the doomed capital. It was decided that Valten and Martak would lead a diversionary attack so that the main force and the remaining civilians could fight their way clear - although the Emperor made them promise to join him north of Kemperbad. [1a]
The breakout was a great success, aided by the fact that Skaven were fighting amongst themselves and so that ratmen were driven before the hammer of Valten, the weapons of his warriors and the magic of Martak. Once clear of the city however, they found the lands swarming with Beastmen and more Skaven, forcing them to fight bloody skirmish after bloody skirmish, steadily being driven away from the Emperor. One of his raven's brought Martak word that Middenheim was still strong and defiant and they marched on to lend aid to the City of the White Wolf. [1a]
Arriving at the city, they found an army of dispirited Skaven who were initially quickly scattered from their path but whose resistance began to stiffen as they fought their way through the siege lines. As their advance began to stall, Graf Boris Todbringer rode forth from Middenheim at the head of the Knights of the White Wolf, greeting Valten and his followers on the battlefield and leading them back safely to his home.
