History
Around 2523/4 IC, Karak Kadrin was besieged, although Ungrim led many sorties out to cleanse the area of the ratmen, even destroying the nest-lair of Blackhole, the siege continued for a full year. This would all come to an end when Ikit Claw arrived to take control of the Skaven forces, although his vital warpbomb magnifier had been stolen from him whilst visiting Karak Eight Peaks. [1a]
After convening a council of the warlords, Ikit wiped them out with a blast of warpflame and put Rikcruk Sliceblade in charge of the miiltary who swiftly purged the lesser clans of any who questioned the new command structure. Unable to create the warhead for a Doomrocket, Ikit ordered the creation of huge catapults in Peak Pass, about three miles from Karak Kadrin. [1a]
Having endured the siege for a year, Ungrim was in no mood to allow the vermin to encamp in full view of his home and marched out with the throng to destroy them. [1d] The initial screening forces of slaves and clanrats were quickly dispersed by the artillery of the hold [1a] but as the Dawi approached the construction site more and more giant rats and clanrats surged out the tunnels to face them. Three times a new wave of Skaven and their war beasts emerged and were driven back ebfoe rehy even reached the Dwarf line. [1d]
The fourth wave actually survived long enough to reach the advancing dwarfs but now faced their hate and soon they were too fleeing away. Rikcruk himself led the next wave, seeking to both halt the Dawi and grow his own reputation - he was carried forth on a litter amongst his Stormvermin as they pushed through the dead. Ungrim led his warriors forwards, feeling the joy of battle and carving his way through the ratmen, cutting Rikcruk in half with a single blow of his axe sending the remaining Stormvermin fleeing. [1d]
Meanwhile Ikit was working with Clan Moulder on plan B, not really expecting Clan Rictus to be able to hold back the Dwarf-things - to further distract Ungrim and his forces the rest of the beastpacks were unleashed upon them including the Stormfiends. They burned their way through a number of Dwarfs but in turn they were counted by precise bombing runs by the Thunderfist Squadron giving Ungrim time to reach them and hack the remaining Ogres apart. The last one detonated as the axe of the Slayer king penetrated it and a huge fireball of warpflame engulfed him. [1d]
Merely angered by the blast, Ungrim emerged from the crater, the tips of his beard and crest a little singed and none dared stand before him. Meanwhile, Ikit and Throt sent forth the Hell Pit Horrors towards the Hold. The massive beasts endured the torrent of fire from the dwarf defenders, a storm of devastation that would have wiped out an entire army. They reached the gates and began pounding on the them with their enhanced fists and where once the runes of Valaya would have shielded them, now they merely faded one by one. [1d]
Miles away, Ungrim was uneasy and ordered the recall as he heard the continuing roar of the defensive batteries and screams of the Horrors. It was too late. A single Abomination squirmed inside and was met with a new hail of fire - bullets, cannonballs and trollhammer torpedoes which finally killed it. However as it slumped to the ground, green gas began spewing from the twitching corpse. [1d]
At a safe distance, Ikit pushed the red button and what remained of the gates were blasted off their hinges, the gas cloud beginning to rise over the hold even as it raced through the hold. [1d]
