Troll
Trolls are huge humanoid monsters, as witlessly stupid as they are bone-crushingly powerful.[16]
They commonly join marauding Greenskin armies lured to enlist with food and whilst they are dangerous they are usually unable to understand the simplest orders. [16]

Ecology
Trolls are by nature creatures of Chaos, the corrupting effects of Chaos playing a primary role in their origins. It was once believed Trolls and Ogres were related creatures, and that Trolls were in essence a further degeneration of the Ogre race.
Trolls are voracious creatures, mostly motivated by hunger. They are highly omnivorous; while they prefer to feed on meat, their powerful digestive juices can digest and draw nutrition from wood, soil, rocks and metal. Trolls can also voluntarily vomit these brutal digestive juices onto enemies. Trolls also quickly regenerate even the most grievous wounds; severed limbs and heads simply regrow from the stumps, and even the most grievous damage can be regenerated within a day. Fire is the only known weakness to this regeneration, as Trolls cannot regrow flesh damaged by flames, and burning a Troll is the only reliable way of killing it.[6a]
Society and habitat
As a race they are remarkably stupid, unless hungry they will simply sit and stare or wander aimlessly for days.[6a] Trolls fight using either clubs or their bare claws, and typically open battle with a gout of vomit to soften up their targets. Groups of Trolls open battle in a fairly coordinated manner by concentrating on battering a single enemy or small group to death, but afterwards often become distracted by eating or squabbling over the fresh corpses.[12]
Trolls are widespread and live throughout the Old World. They prefer to lair in foul-smelling places such as swamps or abandoned buildings with large supplies of rotting food.[12] many family groups and small tribes of River Trolls can be found on the banks of the Blight Water and the Blind River in the Badlands, each led by mighty River Troll Hags. [17a]
Trolls are found in greatest numbers in the Troll Country and other Chaos-saturated regions near the Chaos Wastes.
Clan Moulder sometimes capture or lure Trolls to Hell Pit where they find a new home and sometimes an additional limb before they are used in battle.[10a]
Breeds
Besides the bog standard common troll, there are a number of distinct breeds:
- Bile Trolls are a highly mutated variant native to the Cold Mires in the Chaos Wastes. They are plagued by a variety of disfiguring diseases and, unlike other followers of Nurgle, are not granted resistance to the pain of their condition. Their regenerative abilities are stunted by their diseased condition, but they can transfer their infected bile through their touch and vomit.[13]
- Chaos Trolls - While all Trolls are inherently creature of Chaos, some have undergone more direct mutation that has twisted them into even more fearsome creatures than normal. They can possess all forms of mutations, two heads being a common affliction.[2] Like all Trolls, they are a terrifyingly powerful, fast moving creatures with flesh that can quickly restore itself, or, to be precise, warp itself into ever more terrible mutations. Unlike them, however, they literally use vomit as a weapon, acidic bile dissolving the flesh of their puny enemies. They can throw up even more repulsive things, including swathes of carnivorous worms or even the energy of Chaos. While common, river and stone trolls ally with Greenskins, these children of Chaos are loyal to their Dark God fathers and they will often accompany the Warriors of Chaos in their campaigns. Unfortunately for the latter, no amount of mutations has managed to cure their stupidity and cowardice.[3]
- Ice Trolls are a breed native to Norsca. Their closer proximity to the Chaos Wastes has caused them to mutate further than their southern relatives, transforming the acidic vomit of other Trolls into an icy exhalation. Ice Trolls use this ability to freeze foes solid in their tracks, afterwards devouring their frozen forms with a crunch of icy meat and bone.[15]
- River Trolls live in the vicinity of water; rivers, lakes, or swamps being a common choice. They are scaly and particularly slimy fellows. [1]
- Shugon are Trolls of the ocean depths. They are pale, hulking beings with blind white eyes and rows of serrated teeth.[14]
- Stone Trolls Long-limbed monsters[18] native to mountainous and rocky areas, and occasionally eat rocks and stones. As a result they have acquired stone-like characteristics, like very hard skin. Another extraordinary characteristic is that they are extremely resistant towards magic.[2]
Gob Launcher
The River Ratz are Goblin Pirates who use River Trolls with broken chariots to throw goblins onto the decks of enemy vessels. Sometimes the goblins actually survive the impact and attack the enemy crew. [11a]
History
Grombrindal, the White Dwarf, slew Ghrandukker, father of Trolls, following six days of battle. [8a]
Notable
Troll Horde
Should trolls gather in large numbers they can become a force that sell-sword companies or militia have no ability to face. Local rulers will be forced to field larger, more professional military but even they will be hard pressed to deal with monsters with the strength of ten or more warriors. Such a horde, if not destroyed can lay waste to entire kingdoms. [17b]
