Battle
The Army of Sylvania formed up in the snow in a hasty defensive formation with the Drakenhof Guard at its centre, led by Vlad and Vulf. [1a]
The White Wolves charged them in three waves, smashing the levy troops who quickly routed and forged on into the spearmen and halberdier, ignoring the crossbow bolts being fired at them. Hundreds of the Sylvanians died and only the centre held firm but the Drakenhof Guard were now being cut down as well. A charge from the trees into the Wolves right flank by the Templars was not enough to half their rampage. [1a]
However Vlad now used his Necromancy to raise the dead as well as bringing great wolves and swarms of bats from the forest. The dead of the Empire and Sylvania alike clawed at the steeds and riders and even the remaining Sylvanians were disturbed by the scene. [1a]
Soon only Jerek remained of the Wolves and it is said that Vlad then ordered the dead to attack his few suriviving living troops. He then fought Jerek, wounding him a number of times and later left his body at the foot of the stone monolith on which Middenheim is built. [1a]
A scribe observing the battle somehow made it back to Middenheim but was later found dead in the city. [1a]
